Furniture Restoration

Antique restoration and furniture refinishing are similar in the minds of most people, but are quite different in application.

Antique furniture restoration involves all the steps necessary to properly conserve the furniture to its original state.  Over 30 years of experience have given us the knowledge of the various furniture styles and construction techniques used.  Repairs are made where needed, including replacement of parts, veneer, inlay, etc.  Much care is taken when selecting the materials, period replacement hardware and the finish applied to each piece.

Finishes applied can range from shellac and hand applied French polish to lacquers and hand buffed waxes.  In many cases, once the repair work is completed, the original finish can be saved and restored to its former state.

The goal of the restoration process is to renew the appearance of the piece and return its functionality while sustaining or enhancing its value.
